Nettle syrup

Nettle syrup is SO delicious that you just want to drink cold drinks. For a teetotaler this is a nice change in hot sweaty summer days

Carob powder

I started to use plant parts to dye cotton with and in the process of finding these materials I try to get more use out of it. Carob is such a thing. Yippee, makes me happy to get multiple uses out of one plant.

Shoreline Gleaner Shoreline Gleaner, a belt. Not that I am ever dressed like this at our home, no... at home I am usually wearing working clothes. Anything that can handle the compost heap, the outhouse and selecting food for the day, kneading sourdough, baking cooking. Yet, it looks nice. Back in the day people did wear such dresses and skirts while working at home. How dirty would their outfits be at the end of the week? Balkan Dawn is not shared with you yet, though this project has been finished for a few weeks now. The name is wholeheartedly dedicated to where it was embroidered: on our cycling trip through Bosnia and Herzegovina (which I continued alone for 2 more weeks / blogpost published). Very content with the result. This was one of the embroidery projects that filled me with delight. I wanted to work on it as much as I could. Cycling through Bosnia and Hercegovina started with this project, and when having coffees it was taken out of the panniers. Sometimes people would comment on my work: it is unusual to see someone not having a phone in their hands. Here's a good compilation of how a design grows. I made a drawing, copied it onto the fabric (handdyed with sumac) and when it was done (in phulkari stitch) I was far from happy with it. It lay around for a few months. Upon coming back from a fantastic cycling tour but also having caught a massive cold, I saw what was needed. Hungarian summer, hot and colourful. The embroidering goes on (now I have knitted enough garments). I divided the garden in half for one part flowers only and I gained even more time to sit and embroider.
