weight + destination + volume + size = ?

There is one thing that stresses me about my ‘hobby’, and that is sending it to you. Not because I can not part with my creations but because of the hassle it usually gives me at the post office! A pouch may be too voluminous and then there’s the weight, which I too feel pressing down on my shoulders: ‘What is the price going to be?’

There is just no rule that I can apply from a distance.

Not rarely did I have to pay more than I would ask for the pouch itself. In the beginning I sold some of my handmade work with adding my own money to send it. I thought it unfair to ask for more afterwards?

Now, I have started to ask the one who bought for a surcharge – asking the buyer to pay an additional amount because the actual cost was higher than expected, which is rather awkward. Often the postal fees are higher than the price I asked for my art.

I am not Amazon, Ali Express or any other East European reseller. I sell my own handmade art. The pieces of fabric that are made while I hike and cycle through Europe and that I stitch in my atelier in Hungary are made with so much attention, focus and detail that, indeed, no price tag can be attached. It’s not that I need to make money but rather sharing with you a piece of cloth that has a story and that represents another tale than what is usually bought in large amounts.

There is not a whole lot ideology behind what I do, besides loving embroidering and creating beauty that also serves a purpose. But as of now, I find myself forced to raise my prices, as I realize I have significantly underestimated the true cost of my work. And, if you have red this far, I might ask you for a surcharge when the postal fee went overboard, showing you always a proof of what the costs were.

Having said this, I made more clear in each page what the postal fees on average to each region for each pouch should be. The USA still being unclear.
