Summer Update

With two new creations in the shop one can see that I have shifted my attention: much more detailed embroidery. I have gone away from the simple patterns and instead started to draw designs that are more time consuming. It fits well with the journeys I am on, the longer the journey, the more intricate a pattern thus the longer I can work on one.

At the moment I am inspired by Indian designs, and without simply copying them, I sit down to come up with own designs, often inspired by the flowers in front of me. I have split the garden in two parts, to limit the mass of work and one part is flowers only. When sitting outside, eating food partly from my garden, I wonder about the bees and birds frolicking from one plant to the next. Sometimes it means chasing unwelcome visitors: even that comes down to personal handwork.

It is a beautiful symbiosis: eating from my garden, watching the life in it and being inspired. Sometimes incorporating findings from abroad, like dried up snails in their shell.

As you may have noticed, I have raised the prices, as the amount of time spend on each pouch is tremendously, or at least, remarkable amounts of time. Although, honestly, some pouches were sold way, way below their true ‘price’.

Even though it is not so much about ‘making money’, it somehow is discouraging when a pouch comes out for sale and it is sold immediately. I think it is also because the prices are too low, but that may be my own odd thoughts, as I have no clue what ‘art’ actually sells for?
