Do it yourself

Travel & food: a happy marriage

Posted on November 26, 2021November 26, 2021 by Cindy

The beauty of growing (part of) your own food is more than just healthy, it is beauty to the eye and rapture to the senses. It is hard work too. A visual reconnection with traveling the world because food is life.

Carob powder

Posted on June 16, 2021June 16, 2021 by Cindy

I started to use plant parts to dye cotton with and in the process of finding these materials I try to get more use out of it. Carob is such a thing. Yippee, makes me happy to get multiple uses out of one plant.

Cold temperatures, warm hearts, misty days and views from up high. Cold walks and burning heat tempered by a cool pool. Soft paws and woolly fur. Trying Pilates and happy faces instead. That is housesitting in a nutshell. One of my favourite so far was here. Went for a walk and made it a task to find material for a new embroidery project. The hills of Marche provided me with a lot of shells. I need to drink a lot of cappuccinos to see a bit of progress in this embroidery. The fine stitches promises a captivating composition yet it'll take time to become a coherent picture. We are housesitting and one thing that hits me harder now we are away from our home is the loss of our own cats. To Geo and me, 'losing' them has made our house not a home anymore. So, watching other people's dogs and cats really is a solution for the time being. When the cat takes over, the embroidery needs to stop. Llama holds dear memories. These animals, when you run into them are pure fun. In Argentina I cycled Ruta 40 and while camping I had a bunch at my spot. They live on high altitudes and have the cutest expressions.
